Hi, I'm Nona Majidi, Deputy Country Director of American Councils for International Education in Tajikistan. American Councils was established in 1974 to manage exchange programs between the US and the USSR, and we have been working in Tajikistan since 1993. To date, we have worked in 85 countries and have a network of 75,000 alumni. Our Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program alone has nearly a thousand alumni from Tajikistan, who studied in the US as teenagers and can be found in leadership roles in many businesses and international organizations in Dushanbe. We also bring about 80 Americans to Tajikistan each year for language study. We are a non-profit organization and the US State Department has traditionally been our biggest funder, but we also increasingly partner with the private sector to promote internships, study tours and tailored programs. In Tajikistan, we have partnered with AmCham members to provide internships to our program alumni and scholarship recipients, and to conduct charitable and CSR activities. We are delighted to be officially joining AmCham, and look forward to building and deepening partnership with other AmCham members.
